Pick Your Part
If you are interested in joining the contest, please join the club first. You may also be a prize contributor if you want.
If you would like to be a prize contributor, you don’t have to join the club unless you want to. You may be a judge OR enter the contest if you are a prize contributor.
If you would like to be a judge, you must join the group. You can be a prize contributor and a judge but you may not enter the contest if you're a judge.
The Theme
This contest is centered around the idea of ”Winter Desserts”!
There will be two sections and any artist can contribute to either or both the “Visual Creations” or “Literature Conceptions” categories. Regardless of the section you choose to submit to, you will need to follow this basic theme and your reference to the theme should be obvious.
Visual Creations
Christmas cookies, holiday cakes or pies, puddings, or anything from any culture during any point in history is welcome so long as it is a winter traditional dessert. As long as there is some kind of yummy treat referenced in your art you’re in!
Dress you character as your favorite holiday snack. Maybe you want to model a yummy dessert out of clay or paper? A painting of a kitty eating his winter noms might be cute.
It doesn’t matter what style or tools you use; As long as it fits the central theme then you have nothing to worry about.
Literature Conceptions
Write a minimum of 250 word piece revolving around the theme. It can be a story about eating the food, obtaining the food, how the dessert effect people or places, or about how the dessert saved the world. Anything goes. Use your creative juices or write a non-fictional inspiration.
The Deadline
The contest starts November 1st and will end on March 20th (the last day of winter) at 11:59pm
The Rules
Visual Creations
Must have an obvious connection to the theme “Winter Desserts”
Limit of 2 entries per deviant
Original Characters Only – If you are going to have characters in your piece they can be human, furry, animal, or anthro. Just remember, this is a creative stimulating group dedicated to unique and original designs. Please use only original characters in this contest.
No bio on the characters or story behind the image is necessary but is much more than welcome. Creator comments that talk about the concept behind the art piece may be used to support you image but will not be used against you.
Any media and material and style work! – You can do digital, traditional, sculpture, 3D model, or anything else.
Please Submit your finished piece to the “Winter Desserts Contest” folder.
Please put the group’s dev link and/or icon in the description of the piece so we know it was meant for this contest and wasn’t put in there by accident.
Nothing against DA rules! - If it a mature rated image, please filter it appropriately. Make sure all MA art is done in a tasteful and creative manner though if you’re going to submit it.
No animations this time around. I don’t expect any entries for this but just to make sure. This is an animation free contest. Sorry animators.
NO STOLEN ARTWORK! - Do not use obvious bases or traces or color overs for this piece. If you are going to sample from other artists do it in a professional manner. All good artists use some sort of reference, just don’t be an art thief. I trust all of you are mature enough that I don’t have to say this, but just in case.
